Getting Started

How does PaceRep work?
Add a video of an exercise and trim it to a single rep. PaceRep plays that rep over and over at the video's pace, counting reps and time, so you can follow along until you reach your target.
How do I add an exercise?
Tap Create, then pick a video from your Photo Library or Files, or record one. You can also share a video into PaceRep from another app, such as TikTok.
How do I trim a video to one rep?
Drag the handles on the trim bar so the highlighted part covers exactly one rep. Start and end in the same position so the loop looks smooth.
Can I crop the video?
Yes. When importing, move and resize the crop box to frame the exercise. It starts as the whole frame, so nothing is cut unless you change it.
Does PaceRep work on Mac?
Yes. PaceRep runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac. On a Mac, drag a video onto the PaceRep window or open it from Finder, then press Space to start and train along on a big screen.

Importing Videos

How do I get a video from TikTok?
In Create, tap Find videos on TikTok for suggested searches. In TikTok, tap Share, then Save video. When it has saved, under Share to tap More and choose PaceRep. You can also pick the saved video from your Photo Library.
How do I import a video from YouTube?
YouTube doesn't let you save videos to your phone, and sharing from YouTube only sends a link, which PaceRep can't use. Instead, screen record the part you need: play the video full screen, tap it so the controls hide, then start Screen Recording. In PaceRep, tap Create, then Photo Library, pick the recording, crop away anything around the video and trim it to one rep.
How do I import from Instagram, Facebook or other video apps?
If the app has Save or Download in its share menu, save the video, then share it to PaceRep (tap Share, then More, then PaceRep) or pick it from your Photo Library in Create. If the app only offers to share a link, screen record the video instead and import the recording from your Photo Library.
How do I import a video from a website?
If the site offers a download, save the video to Files, then in PaceRep tap Create, then Files, and choose it. If the video plays in Safari but can't be downloaded, screen record it and import the recording from your Photo Library. Copying a page's link won't work: PaceRep needs the video itself.
How do I screen record a video?
Open Control Centre and tap the Screen Recording button. If it isn't there, tap + in Control Centre, then Add a Control, and add Screen Recording. After the three-second countdown, play the video. Tap the red indicator at the top of the screen to stop, and the recording is saved to Photos.
Why isn't PaceRep in the share menu?
PaceRep appears when you share a video file, such as one saved to Photos or Files. It doesn't appear when an app shares a link to a video. Save or screen record the video first, then share it. If you still don't see PaceRep, tap More at the end of the app row and turn it on.
Can I use any video I find?
Videos you import stay on your device for your own workouts. Please only use videos you're allowed to, and respect the creator's rights and the platform's terms.

Workouts

How do I set a target?
Choose a time or a number of reps. Setting one works out the other from the length of a rep and any rest between reps.
Can I change the number of reps during a workout?
Yes. While the workout is playing or paused, press and hold the screen, then pick a new number of reps.
What is Rep rest?
A pause of a set number of seconds between reps, shown as a countdown in place of the video. There's no rest after the last rep, and the workout length includes the rests.
What does Video loops in rep do?
It plays the trimmed clip more than once to make up a single rep. Use it when your clip shows half a movement or a short part that repeats.
How do I skip the countdown or show the controls?
Tap anywhere during the countdown to skip it. While a workout runs, tap the screen to show or hide the controls.
Can I move the timer?
Yes. Flick the timer up or down to move it to the other end of the video. Tap it to switch between time taken and time remaining.
How do I mute the video?
Tap the speaker button on the video. It sits at the opposite end to the timer.

Editing Exercises

How do I edit an exercise?
Press and hold an exercise in the list, or press and hold its video once you've opened it, then choose Edit Exercise. You can change the name, trim, rep rest, loops and target.
How do I delete an exercise?
Press and hold the exercise in the list and choose Delete, or on iPhone swipe left on it.

History

Where can I see past workouts?
Tap the calendar button at the top of the Exercises screen. History shows your workouts, streaks, bests and totals by month, year or lifetime.
How do streaks work?
A streak counts the days in a row you've done at least one workout. Today counts once you've worked out; until then your streak runs to yesterday.

Unlimited Exercises

What's free in PaceRep?
Everything, for one exercise. Workouts, editing, rep rest and history are all free. Adding more than one exercise needs a one-time purchase.
Is it a subscription?
No. Unlimited Exercises is a single payment that unlocks adding as many exercises as you like, for good.
How do I restore my purchase?
Tap Create to open the unlock screen, then tap Restore Purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.
Does one purchase cover iPhone, iPad and Mac?
Yes. Buy Unlimited Exercises once and use it on your iPhone, iPad and Mac with the same Apple Account.
