PointyPointer Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 June 2026

PointyPointer draws pointer overlays and annotations on top of your screen — and that's all it does. It has no accounts and no analytics, and it collects no data. The only thing it ever asks for is the macOS Accessibility permission that lets it draw.

This policy explains what information PointyPointer does and does not handle, and how your privacy is protected. We've written it in plain language; if anything is unclear, email pointypointer@telepromptme.com and we'll gladly help.

The short version

  • We do not require an account and we do not ask for your name or email to use the app.
  • Your content stays on your device — we don't upload, sell or share it.
  • The only system permission requested is macOS Accessibility, used purely to draw the on-screen overlay.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple — we never see your payment details.

Information we collect

PointyPointer is designed to work without collecting personal information. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not gather your name, email address, contacts or location for our own use.

Your content

Scripts, recordings and projects you create are stored locally on your device under your control. We do not upload this content to our servers.

Accessibility permission

To draw pointer overlays and annotations on top of other apps, PointyPointer asks macOS for Accessibility permission. This permission is used solely to follow your cursor and render the overlay across your screens. PointyPointer does not read, record or transmit the contents of your screen or anything you type, and you can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Purchases

In-app purchases and any subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive anonymous, aggregated sales information from Apple and never see your card number, billing address or other payment details.

Diagnostics

If you opt in through your device's settings, Apple may share anonymised crash and usage diagnostics with us to help us fix bugs and improve the app. This data is not tied to your identity, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Third parties

We do not sell or rent your information, and PointyPointer does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. The only third party involved is Apple, in its role as the platform and payment provider.

Children's privacy

PointyPointer is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your control

Because your content lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing it in the app or deleting the app. If you have any request regarding your privacy, contact us and we'll respond promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
