PointyPointer questions, answered

Everything you need to know about PointyPointer — Presentation point and draw. Can't find your answer? The team is one email away.

What is PointyPointer?
PointyPointer is a macOS utility that makes your cursor unmissable. It draws a customisable pointer overlay, lets you draw and highlight directly on screen, and adds neon glow effects — ideal for presentations, teaching, demos and screen recordings.
Is PointyPointer available for iPhone or iPad?
No — PointyPointer is designed exclusively for the Mac, where it can overlay your whole screen.
Why does it ask for Accessibility permission?
macOS requires Accessibility permission for an app to follow the cursor and draw overlays above other apps. That's the only permission PointyPointer requests, and it's used solely to render the pointer and your drawings. You can revoke it at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
Does it work with multiple displays?
Yes. PointyPointer manages overlays across all connected displays automatically, so the spotlight and your drawings follow the cursor onto a projector or second screen.
Can I change or remove what I've drawn?
Yes — strokes are interactive. Select any mark to move, edit or delete it, or clear the screen entirely, without interrupting your presentation.
How much does it cost?
PointyPointer is completely free on the Mac App Store. There are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases — every feature is included.
Is it private?
Completely. PointyPointer has no accounts and no analytics, collects no data, and never reads or transmits the contents of your screen. Everything is rendered locally on your Mac.
