Which apps does ChatterFish support for creating subtitles for audio?
ChatterFish works with audio from apps on your device. It listens to the audio generated by those apps and creates subtitles or translations from that audio.
Why does ChatterFish ask for screen capture permissions?
ChatterFish uses screen capture permissions so it can access system audio from your device. Audio is the only thing processed by the capture. Your screen content is not captured or processed.
Does my audio get sent to the internet for processing?
No. Processing occurs on your device.
What functionality does the trial version have?
The trial version has all the functionality of the full app, except translation is limited to 60 seconds.
What languages does ChatterFish support?
Arabic, German, English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
I have the trial version. How do I upgrade?
Go to Settings and you will see upgrade instructions there.
On iOS, ChatterFishTranslator is not showing in the Screen Recording dropdown. What should I do?
iOS can take a while to register the broadcaster. Reboot your device and wait a few seconds for it to appear.
On iOS, audio pauses on YouTube and other apps while ChatterFish is open. What should I do?
Audio from other apps may pause when the ChatterFish microphone is on. In this case, switch ChatterFish from using the microphone to using System Audio. Do this by pressing the microphone icon in the bottom-left of the view and selecting System Audio.
